Responsibility Summary

Job Summary

Director of Business Systems – The Director of Business Systems is a business-oriented technology executive with the responsibility to oversee and manage all aspects of enterprise applications, business support systems, goals, and priorities.  The Director of Business Systems will direct the establishment and enforcement of policies and standards relating to enterprise systems and applications and manage the team responsible for designing, developing, implementing and supporting these applications. This position ensures alignment of IT Business Systems with MacLean-Fogg’s business operational requirements.  Primary responsibilities include the management and support for all development, installation, upgrade, maintenance, support and training for core business systems enhancements and new applications. This position is also responsible for setting strategic direction and budget planning for business system applications. Must have demonstrated leadership success.

 

Responsibilities

• Responsible for all enterprise applications including ERP, data collection, quality systems and all other critical business applications

• Recruit, build, manage and mentor a team consisting of business analysts, developers, project managers and consultants

• Work with business stakeholders to determine business process needs, establish project scopes and deploy resources appropriately

• Develop, maintain and report on department budgets and long-term financial strategy

• Create staffing plans to support strategy of the organization

• Liaise with overall IT organization to align business systems strategy with the greater business stability

• Ensure teams are leveraging best industry practices in all aspects of their roles

• Act as a hybrid business/ IT partner for all functions of the operations and business teams

• Oversee the development of written scripts, business processes, training guides and support documentation

• Follow all Safety, Environment and Quality policies and guidelines. Supports and leads in the company’s Operational Transformation initiatives as appropriate

• Develop and drive the strategic direction of all business systems applications and data infrastructure

• Accountable for systems support, availability, configuration, updates and patching, customization and enhancements of business systems, websites and externally hosted applications

• Work with the CIO, other IT leadership and business stakeholders to define and plan enhancement release roadmap to meet ongoing business needs

• Define, establish and maintain standard software development practices

• Create, manage and track budgets, oversee the management of all application service providers and develop performance indicators for vendors

• Develop a functional understanding of business application systems as well as a similar understanding of business process and procedures

• Respond to escalated support calls, e-mails, voicemails and resolve problems

• Develop training programs for all business system user areas

Required Skills

• Ability, desire and experience to work in a manufacturing/distribution organization

• Ability to lead multiple geographically dispersed teams and projects

• Strong communication skills with ability to define and communicate overall team strategy and tactics

• Ability to communicate to all levels of project and corporate organization

• Ability to effectively communicate with customers, both orally and written

• Thorough knowledge and understanding of current and emerging application development and support approaches and methodologies

• Strong analytical skills and detailed organizational skills

• Demonstrated customer service orientation

• Strong organization development and management skills

• Demonstrated ability to recruit, develop and retain staff

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Technology, Finance, Business or related discipline

• A minimum of 5 years of experience leading ERP and business application projects

• Multiple full-life cycle ERP Implementations

• Familiarity with the following business areas: Distribution (Sales Order Processing, EDI , Inventory, Purchasing, Warehousing, RF Scanning devices, Labeling and Packaging), Manufacturing (MRP/CRP, PDM, Costing, Shop Floor Execution) and Financials (GL, AP, AR)

• Expertise in leading small to medium size development and implementation teams who implement quality deliverables on time and within budget
