This position is located in Schenectady, NY.

This position will report to the Senior Leader, Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) and oversee MVP’s business continuity management activities necessary to keep the
business running effectively and efficiently during and after a disruptive event. As part of the ERM team, the incumbent may also assist with other risk management activities.

The role includes but is not limited to the following:

  • Scale and maintain a BCM program that aligns to industry standards, complies with all applicable regulatory requirements and supports the company's priorities;

  • Own governance and compliance of business continuity framework, such as completing risk assessments to identify gaps, and codifying related policies, standards and procedures, including emergency response and crisis communication plans;

  • Design, implement, and manage long-term and day-to-day operations of BCM program;

  • Partner with IT and Technology teams and other key business leaders to ensure adequate resiliency and recovery for key business processes and work with business unit leaders to audit and improve impact analyses and business continuity plans

  • Coordinate, as necessary, with external agencies and vendors to ensure dependencies are documented and tested and risks are identified.

  • Collaborate with business units to create and maintain business continuity plans that focus on business continuity workarounds and procedures that ensure minimum service level objectives are met during a disruption.

  • Develop and maintain business continuity education and training materials for dissemination and presentation to business leaders and co-workers

Performs other related duties as assigned.


Minimum Education:

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required in Health Care Administration/Insurance, Risk Management, Business Continuity/Disaster Recovery, or related field.

Minimum Experience:

5-7 years or experience working with cross functional teams

3-5 years of business continuity, disaster recovery or related experience

Health care / health insurance experience is preferred.

Required Skills:

  • Knowledge of industry standards and best practices for business continuity, recovery, and resiliency

  • A high level of business acumen and ability to work well with senior leadership

  • Ability to maintain positive customer relations and satisfaction with external and internal customers

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, including ability to compose policies and procedures and present to senior leadership

  • Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills to resolve issues timely and using sound judgment to improve processes and drive change

  • Strong desktop computer skills, including expert knowledge of Excel, Word, Outlook and Power Point.

  • Business Continuity Professional Certification preferred

  • Must be comfortable working in a team environment as well as

  • Able to manage time effectively and work independently without
    direct supervision

  • Must be detail oriented with strong organizational skills

  • Minimal travel between MVP offices, including overnight travel
