In the Senior Electrical Hardware Engineer role, the successful candidate will have responsibility for electronics design and development activities on a team focused on supporting customers in a critical Watlow market.  These activities will include typical hardware design activities such as component selection, schematic design, overseeing pcb layout, managing prototype builds, test plan development, product validation, cost control, and planning and leading internal design reviews.

Your Key Responsibilities will include:

  • Developing design approaches with a systems mindset.

  • Collaboratively designing and developing the electronic hardware functions of new products within multi-discipline teams that utilize lean product development methods and tools.

  • Planning and participating in regular design reviews.

  • Contributing to development of product and technology roadmaps.

  • Performing component level board design using schematic capture.

  • Overseeing and directing PCB layout to comply with all project requirements including environmental, EMC, mechanical, manufacturing, test, and firmware/software development.

  • Developing products and appropriate tests from system requirements.

  • Supporting hardware engineering needs on existing product.

 

Qualifications:

Must have:

  • Advanced degree in field of specialization or Bachelor’s degree and related experience, or equivalent experience (5-8 years)

  • Experience within cross functional teams that deliver complete product from concept to delivery.

  • Strong understanding of design for reliability, manufacturability, and cost.

  • Experience designing microcontroller/microprocessor based controllers and implementing modern communication buses, A/D Converters, Sensor interfaces, displays, etc.

  • Understanding of best practices for PCB layout for power, HS digital, communications and analog sections to produce EMI rugged designs.

  • Experience with electronics engineering design/analysis tools.

  • Understanding of thermal management of power semiconductor circuits.

  • Designing of embedded controllers for industrial environments

 

Additional success factors:

  • Power electronics background, especially power conversion.

  • Mentor Graphics experience.

  • Lean product development experience.

  • Self-motivated to meet team defined goals.

  • Demonstrated strong communication and problem-solving skills.
