Christian Education Director
JOB SUMMARY:
Plans, develops, coordinates, monitors, and supervises all Christian Education Programs for a Corps including but not limited to youth programs; builds and maintains a positive relationship with Corps members, children, youth, and their parents; recruits volunteers to serve as teachers/leaders for various programs and serves as a resource to assist them in the same; ensures all programs are in compliance with The Salvation Army mission and ensures the safety of program participants; administers the day-to-day office operations to include preparation of statistics and reports, purchasing of supplies, promotion of programs, and administration of department budget.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Knowledge of The Salvation Army mission and ministry.
Knowledge of the Bible, doctrine and theology.
Knowledge of principles and practices of Christian education, child development and family relations.
Knowledge of effective teaching skills and practices for youth programs.
Knowledge of a wide variety of creative resources and practices which facilitate the modern development and promotion of Christian education programs.
Ability to recruit, lead, and motivate volunteers to teach Christian education classes/programs.
Ability to maintain control of events dealing with multiple age groups.
Ability to serve as a resource for the development of Christian education programs.
Ability to establish and nurture relationships with adults and children of all ages and their families.
Ability to plan, organize, and promote Christian education group functions.
Ability to attend Corps programs including Sunday services.
Ability to administer programs within established budget constraints.
Ability to become and remain certified to operate Salvation Army vehicles per insurance requirements.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Education or a related field, and
three years experience developing and leading Christian education programs for large groups, or
any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
Must be a uniform wearing Salvationist in good standing based on program requirements.
LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS:
Valid State Driver's License
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORKING CONDITIONS:
Ability to read, write, and communicate the English language.
Ability to perform mathematical calculations.
Ability to operate various general office equipment including a telephone, computer, and adding
machine.
Duties are usually performed seated. Sitting may be relieved by brief or occasional periods of standing or walking.
Work may involve driving a vehicle on occasion to transport passengers to and from Corps programs.
