The Salvation Army, an internationally recognized non-profit, faith based organization has a job opening for a part time Truck Helper for the Daytona Beach Corps, located in Daytona Beach, FL.


JOB SUMMARY

Assists in picking-up donations by riding
in a Salvation Army truck and lifting, carrying, and/or hauling donations into
the truck and unloading the same at the warehouse/store; assists in navigating
for the Truck Driver; ensures the accountability, security, and safety of the
donations when in route; assists in maintaining the vehicle in proper working
order and in compliance with established standards.


Rides in a Salvation Army truck on a
scheduled route in order to pick-up donated items; assists in navigating driver
to destinations by reading a map and/or hand-written directions.

Inspects donated items briefly to ensure
they can be used according to established policies and procedures; explains
policy to customers regarding the types of items that can be accepted.


Lifts, carries, and/or hauls donations
into truck; packs items in truck in a manner that maximizes use of space,
protects items from damage, and ensures safety.


Prepares donation receipts for customers;
ensures the accuracy and completeness of the same.


Maintains good relationship with donors to
promote a favorable image of The Salvation Army.


Unloads donations from truck upon arrival
at warehouse; distributes items to appropriate locations in the warehouse.


Loads truck of items to be taken to the
dump.


Performs routine maintenance of the truck;
checks fluid levels on a regular basis; coordinates and may participate in
repair work as needed.


Assumes the responsibilities of the Truck
Driver as required by the field location.


Assists in performing work in the
warehouse as needed.


Assists in maintaining the neatness and
cleanliness of the warehouse and loading dock area.


Performs other related work as required.

Ability to work effectively with
customers.



WORKING CONDITIONS:


Work requires riding in a vehicle daily
with exposure to the outdoors where there are physical discomforts associated
with changes in weather such as rain, cold, snow, heat or discomforts associated
with noise, dust, dirt, and the like.
