The Salvation Army, an Internationally recognized non-profit, faith based organization, has a job opening for a Building Maintenance/ Custodian worker for the Daytona Beach Corps, located in Daytona Beach, Fl.
JOB TITLE:BUILDING MAINTENANCE WORKER
Performs routine repairs and maintenance of buildings, equipment, and vehicles; performs routine grounds keeping work to ensure the beautification of the landscape; performs minor plumbing and carpentry repair work.
Performs routine building maintenance activities; performs minor pluming repairs required by leaking faucets and clogged toilets; performs carpentry work required to repair dents and/or holes
in walls and paints walls.
Performs preventative maintenance of Salvation Army vehicles; monitors and replenishes all fluid levels.
Maintains the grounds to include mowing grass, trimming hedges, blowing leaves, and collecting debris; maintains the beautification of the grounds.
Sweeps, vacuums, strips, mops and waxes floors; sweeps sidewalks.
Assembles and moves office furniture including chairs, desks, tables, bulletin boards, etc.
Monitors activities and visitors of building and grounds to ensure security.
Drives truck in order to pick up materials and repair items needed for maintenance work.
Cleans surroundings after each repair job; ensures that all tools are collected, and surroundings are left neat and clean.
Monitors lighting and changes light bulbs when needed.
Maintains all tools, supplies, parts, and equipment belonging to the Maintenance Department.
Drives Salvation Army vehicle to pick up materials, supplies, donations, mail, and the like.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Knowledge of general building and grounds maintenance practices and procedures.
Ability to learn by method of on-the-job training including ability to follow instructions.
Ability to perform routine and minor repair and maintenance activities of buildings and grounds.
Ability to use and maintain maintenance equipment and tools effectively and in a safe manner.
Ability to maintain driving ability according to State, DOT, and Salvation Army policies,
procedures, and certifications.
Work requires driving a vehicle and working outdoors daily with exposure to physical discomforts associated with changes in weather such as rain, cold, snow, heat or discomforts associated
with noise, dust, dirt, and the like.
