Professional Development Consultant
Professional Development Consultant responsible for providing assessment and
counseling services to children and families in individual and group formats, along with providing professional development
to early learning staff. This clinician manages a diverse caseload and collaborates with persons served and other providers to assure that the mental,
emotional, and psychosocial needs of The Centers’ clients are addressed. The clinician works within the Early Learning Program under the supervision of
Health & Wellness.
•Master’s Degree in Social Work, Counseling or Related Field.
•LSW or LPC required
•LISW or LPCC licensure
•Experience with diagnostic assessment and counseling with individuals, families, and groups.
•Minimum two years’ experience working with children ages birth through 12, preferred.
Essential Job Duties & Responsibilities
•Work collaboratively with the Early Learning program as a support to families and staff involved with the center-based programming serving children from birth to age 5.
•Provides trainings to Early Learning staff with implementing strategies to identify and support
children with mental health and social and emotional concerns. Provides continued coaching and training
to maintain and implement best practices per case.
•Provide professional development trainings to early learning staff on topics related to behavioral health.
•Provide behavioral health consultation to Early Learning staff and parents as needed.
•Complete observations and mental health assessments within the Early Learning Program as needed.
•Identifies needs and provides training and coaching to teachers around improving classroom
management and teacher practices through strategies that include using
classroom observations and consultations to address teacher and individual child needs to promote positive mental health and social and emotional
•Conduct trainings and workshops on Conscious Discipline Social/Emotional Curriculum for parents
and Early Learning staff to assist with understanding mental health and
accessing mental health interventions as needed.
•Review data from eDECA social/emotional assessment screenings completed by early learning staff to support and plan for professional development.
•Participate in creating and updating Policy and Procedures.
•Complete Individualized Service Plan development with families as needed.
•Complete all paperwork required by the agency within designated timeframes.
•Maintain working relationships with other social service organizations and community
supports to facilitate access to additional mental health resources and
services as needed to address service gaps and/or provide appropriate referrals.
•Help market The Centers’ programs.
•Perform other duties as assigned.
•Working knowledge of the stages of growth and development and family dynamics.
•Skilled at use of DSM IV for diagnosis of mental disorders.
•Training and/or experience with individuals who have been involved in situations of trauma.
•Good oral and written communication skills.
•Ability to make sound decisions under stressful conditions.
•Demonstrated clinical skills and an ability to organize and prioritize tasks.
•Knowledge of community resources.
•Understand and accept a systems approach to service delivery and agency and program philosophy and goals.
•Ability to work cooperatively with other team members
Physical Demands/Work Environment
This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses
standard office equipment. While performing the duties of this job, the
employee is regularly required to speak and hear. The employee is frequently required to sit for extended periods of time, stand, walk, use hands and
fingers, and reach with hands and arms. It requires the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets and bend or stand on a stool as necessary. Travel
and work outside of normal hours may be required for meetings, presentations, trainings and other events.
