POSITION SUMMARY:

Responsible for developing strategy and optimizing operational effectiveness for South University Career Services in support of the promotion of compliance and achievement of University goals.This is achieved through training and support of campus Career Services personnel, managing graduate employment metrics and development of employer partnerships to expand opportunities for South University alumni.

KEY JOB ELEMENTS:

  • Participate in the development of short and long term strategic planning for Career Services and provide leadership in the development of programs that will better serve the needs of the South University students, graduates and alumni

  • Provide assistance to University Administration, and South University executive committees related to career services operations.Work collaboratively with other functional areas to accomplish the goals of the department.

  • Administer University Wide initiatives to improve graduate employment outcomes as evidenced by increased rates of graduate employment in field related positions and average salary

  • Develop and provide training to career services staff on effective marketing and outreach strategies; train and mentor all new Directors of Career Services and Deans of Student Affairs in all areas of operations, strategy, procedures and marketing

  • Plan, oversee and assist in delivering career programs, training materials and workshops designed to prepare students for the job market

  • Conduct market research as required to identify corporations and associations to expand South University’s base of employers and identify trends relevant to South University’s program areas

  • Oversee compliance with Career Services Policies and Procedures and participate with the development of new Policies and Processes; uphold systems to assure data integrity, including validation of documented placements and conducting comprehensive annual audits on a minimum of 75% of South University graduate employment records

  • Other duties as assigned

  • Reports to:South University Assistant Chancellor for Student Affairs

  • Supervises:Indirectly supervises Directors of Career Services

  • Interacts with:University Administration, Academic Program Chairs, Communications, South University campus Presidents, Deans of Student Affairs, Deans of Academic Affairs and Operations, Program Directors, Employers, Alumni, EDMC Student Affairs and Career Services Staff, Program Advisory Committees, vendors

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Master’s degree or equivalent desirable with an emphasis on Higher Education Administration, Student Personnel, Human Resources Management, Career Development, Business or Marketing

  • Ten or more years of strong career services management experience and/or student guidance experience in a post-secondary education setting

  • Knowledge of the career decision making and job seeking process

  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written

  • Strong interpersonal skills with student and staff populations

ENVIRONMENT:

The individual must be able to travel out of the local area with an occasional overnight stay to observe and evaluate students, clinical sites, and clinical coordinators and also participate in a variety of conferences and meetings.The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.
