A faculty member's primary responsibilities to students are imparting knowledge, developing career abilities, and instilling professional attitudes within a creative and enthusiastic learning environment. In addition, faculty have administrative and developmental responsibilities, including advising students in order to enhance their education experience. A competent and experienced faculty is an important key to the realization of South University's mission. Faculty are selected for their expertise in specific fields, teaching abilities, and the necessary background to meet credentialing, licensing, and accreditation requirements. We strive to align performance assessment with position responsibilities and performance expectations. This is a remote/virtual position.
KEY JOB ELEMENTS:
Evaluate students’ clinical performance at the students’ practicum site at midterm and/or final within the dates provided by the Program Director and Sr. Clinical Director with written evaluations for review with students and submitted to the College of Nursing and Public Health.
Participate in evaluation of the quality of the nursing student experiences at the practicum site including assessment of the clinical site and the preceptor.
Communicate by email or phone call with the online faculty of record for the course providing information on the student evaluation no later than one week from completion of the site visit(s).
Encourage a culture of learning that values mutual responsibility, life‐long learning, diversity, and ethics as well as personal and professional development.
Masters in Nursing required. PhD in Nursing or DNP from a regionally accredited university strongly preferred
FNP or AGNP required
Hold a current, unencumbered nursing license in the state where the student evaluation is to be performed.
RN and CRNP licenses/ Board Certified
Depending on the State, the clinical faculty must be licensed in that state in which the student resides (unless a compact state and then a compact license will suffice).
Experience in instruction or formalized education process, preferably in a post-secondary or college institution.
Experience working in an accelerated learning environment and to work with online students
