Owns the definition, creation, and maintenance of the enterprise data models that will support all transactional application functions at the company. Has an excellent understanding of the business, its reporting processes and the data model that supports the process. Creates and maintains application data models supporting various business applications (including definition, structure, documentation, long-range requirements, operational guidelines). Ensures database resilience, availability, recovery, maintenance, data integrity, and capacity planning requirements. Provides a high degree of coordination between user, technical, application and corporate entities to ensure effective data management as a corporate enterprise. Has a willingness to work with customers of varying levels of technical expertise in a growing, complex environment.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities:
Create and maintain database models to support various reporting databases and structures
Make recommendations and execute plans for changes in data repository configurations and vision.
Provides expertise and delivery with all database design, maintenance, and tuning for all applications
Creates, develops, and reviews the database ensuring the detailed design meets stated requirements
Produces and maintains entity relationship diagrams, data flow diagrams, data dictionaries, etc.
Works closely with the Qlik team, Enterprise Architecture, Infrastructure, and Application development to create and refine the data model and how it relates to the data warehouse layer.as; leads/reviews database designs; estimates sizes of new databases
Validates and monitors data integrity to ensure data quality
Defines, develops, and deploys security polices in relations to HIPAA compliance and company standards
Works closely with DBA team to monitors and tune the database environment to ensure the data warehouse is running at optimum efficiency
Plans capacity requirements
Provides application support to resolve problems and answer questions related to the reporting and analytic foundational repository
Lead the evaluation and recommendation of DBA tools and DBMS technologies
Analyze data to identify potential defects in the system. Report the business impact, recommend and take corrective action.
Secondary Duties & Responsibilities:
Assists with BT&A team data management processes including, maintenance, monitoring, and development of database applications
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
5 years’ experience in database design, support, and management
5 years, MySQL database administration, and database development required
Advanced education/training in database design and/or database management preferred
One or more certifications in database design and administration preferred
Ability to create highly complex SQL queries
Experience with database replication
Knowledge of SQL and SQL Server RDBMS required; advanced knowledge and skills preferred
Knowledge of ER diagrams, data flow diagrams and normalization techniques required
Knowledge of data base sizing and data performance tuning required
Knowledge of Enterprise Reporting tools; Qlik experience preferred
Inquisitive personality and willingness to learn business processes and new technologies.
Team player with strong interpersonal skills, can report business impact to the lay person, and is persuasive in recommending solutions to a technical audience.
