Associate Electrical Engineer

MRIGlobal has an exciting full-time opportunity for an Associate Electrical Engineer in our Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance Division located in Kansas City, MO. In this unique opportunity, the selected candidate will work with other engineering and technical disciplines in the design, prototyping, and testing of custom systems to meet customer requirements. Furthermore, the selected candidate will:

  • Design a broad range of analog and digital circuits
  • Design and layout custom circuit boards to meet challenging packaging and performance requirements
  • Design, layout, and assemble control and power distribution panels for custom systems
  • Develop and conduct experiments to analyze existing designs and products
  • Contribute to electrical drawings and documentation for custom systems
  • Perform electrical engineering duties on multidisciplinary teams with mechanical, chemical and systems engineers
  • Support design reviews for clients
     

Required Qualifications:

  • M.S. in Electrical/Electronics Engineering or related field or B.S. in Electrical/Electronics Engineering or related field plus 3 years’ experience
  • Familiarity with electronics lab equipment
  • Knowledge of embedded programming fundamentals

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Hand-on experience populating/soldering circuit boards
  • Knowledge of RF, cellular, satellite, and/or antenna design
  • Understanding of Serial, TCP/IP and other communication protocols

Success Factors:

  • Desire to learn/develop programming skills in C/C++, Labview, and/or Python
  • Desire to learn/develop circuit schematic capture and PCB layout skills
  • Willingness to work in a laboratory or field environment
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Ability to learn new software systems
  • Good mechanical aptitude and enjoys hands-on work
  • Available for periodic travel, estimated at 4-12 weeks per year
  • Desire to work with other team members to solve complex multidisciplinary challenges
  • Proficient oral and written communication skills
  • Motivated self-starter
