SUMMARY

Manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. Motivates and leads staff to accomplish goals. Ensures work meets deadlines and accuracy expectations.

 

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

For individuals that manage people:

  • Organize workflow in area and ensure individual contributors understand duties and delegated tasks

  • Monitor productivity and ensure work is completed to meet required standards

  • Delegates work as needed to ensure all projects are completed accurately and timely

  • Provide guidance and coaching to individual contributors on day-to-day issues

  • Performs or assists subordinates in performing duties - may perform some daily tasks depending on volume

  • Set work schedules and time off requests for direct reports

  • Responsible for hiring and proper training of direct reports

  • Responsible for performance management, including annual reviews, goal setting and on-going feedback

  • Manage department expenses according to the budget.

 

Additional responsibilities, including those that manage projects:

  • Maintains strict confidentiality

  • Effectively communicate and work with internal and external customers

  • Ensure area goals are met and adhere to budget

  • Provide resolution for escalated customer issues

  • Regularly exercises independent judgment and discretion in daily activities and work directly related to department policies

     

    REQUIRED SKILLS

  • Analytical problem solving skills

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, makes presentations and conducts meetings as needed

  • Superb interpersonal skills

  • Professional demeanor

  • Good organizational skills

  • Good understanding of technical concepts related to the team’s charter.

  • Knowledge of truckload transportation, preferred

 

 

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum Education: High School Diploma or GED required;
    Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university, preferred

  • Minimum Experience: 7 years of experience in a related technical position preferred with 3-5 years in a QA lead/management role

     

ESSENTIAL DEPARTMENT SPECIFIC DUTIES and/or SKILLS

  • Experience in all phases of software development lifecycle, required

  • Understanding of custom application development of back-office, web or mobile applications, required

  • Experience managing and maintaining test framework and test libraries

  • Experience leveraging open source tools for test development and execution

  • Experience with Selenium framework

  • Experience integrating automation test frameworks with Jenkins

  • Experience with Java or other object oriented programming language(s)

  • Experience in Test Data and Test Environment Management

  • Experience in building and implementing performance testing approaches, preferred

  • Provide input into defining and maintaining QA team’s best practices, standards and processes

  • Provide recommendations for tools to support the automation effort and reporting needs of the department

  • Be a strong advocate for Quality and act as a QA voice for major development projects

  • Develop and maintain standardized automation test execution reporting across all projects

  • Work closely with the QA Leads in determining automation needs for all project areas to ensure highest level of automation coverage.

  • Act as advocate for automation and work with manual test teams to encourage learning additional skills to support automation efforts

  • Knowledge of Agile Project Management, preferred

  • Other duties as assigned
