KI, a world class supplier of innovative and award-winning furniture solutions for business, educational, and healthcare environments, is seeking a Human Resources Generalist to join our Manitowoc manufacturing facility.

The Human Resources Generalist performs administration of human resource activities encompassing all major functions of human resources with an emphasis in benefits, employee relations, recruiting and safety. A thorough knowledge of all human resources activities and procedures in addition to corporate policies is required to use discretion and tact in the processing of information of a confidential and sensitive nature while frequently exercising independent judgment.



Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate on-boarding of new hires including employee orientation, benefit and safety training and maintenance of records.

  • Assist with Manitowoc Affirmative Action plan; ensure compliance with hiring practices.

  • Maintain contact with staffing agencies regularly and facilitate onboarding process of staffing agency employees

  • Assist with interviewing, job promotions and transfers.

  • Administer, track and case manage short-term disability (STD) and long-term disability (LTD), leave of absences, including FMLA.

  • Educate employees on various benefits and assist with open enrollment.

  • Maintain contact with insurance companies, agents and employees to facilitate proper and complete utilization of benefits for all employees.

  • Coordinate COBRA process for termination of employees and/or dependents.

  • Administer, track and assist HR Manager in case management of Worker’s compensation.

  • Participate in Hazard Assessments

  • Perform Safety Trend Analysis as needed.

  • Assist with review/revision of safety training, safety policies, procedures and communication.

  • Maintain safety Logs and records.

  • Complete other safety projects as assigned.

  • Respond to employee and manager inquiries regarding policies, procedures, guidelines and programs and provide guidance and interpretation.

  • Assist managers with performance management & discipline opportunities, ensuring compliance with applicable laws.

  • Participate in or lead investigations for harassment, discrimination and other claims/complaints

  • Coach and counsel technicians & coordinators as needed.

  • Synergize and provide support to local KI plants and corporate HR as needed.

  • Complete project work as assigned by human resources.

  • Maintain current HR work instructions for tasks.

  • Backup for weekly payroll.

  • Serve as backup for receptionist and ensure guests sign in.

  • File records and perform form kiosk maintenance.



Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources from an accredited four year college or university

  • Two to four years of experience in a human resources department dealing with human resources related functions

  • PHR or SHRM-CP certification(s) preferred.

  • Knowledge of state and federal laws; ability to stay current on law changes

  • Knowledge of HRIS systems and databases

  • Knowledge of human resources functions and procedures

  • Ability to work in a high volume department and meet deadlines

  • Ability to effectively communicate with internal and external customers through verbal and written communication

  • Ability to rapidly learn and perform tasks related to departmental procedures, policies and rules

  • Ability to maintain professionalism during all situations

  • Ability to maintain a high level or confidentiality

  • Ability to work independently and exercise sound judgment

  • Ability to detail; high level of accuracy

  • Ability and willingness to take initiative

  • Innovative and focused on customer service and continuous improvement

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
