ISO New England oversees the 24/7 operation of the power grid that covers the six-states of New England and administers the region’s $10+ billion “stock exchange” for the buying and selling of wholesale electricity. The power system is constantly evolving as new technologies emerge and energy policies evolve. There is a lot going on at our organization behind the scenes to make sure the grid continuously yields reliable electricity at competitive prices while addressing the unique challenges that come along with our industry.

Intern - Asset Registration & Auditing

The Asset Registration and New Generation group registers energy supply and demand assets for wholesale market settlements. This includes everything from tie-line flow of utilities; competitive suppliers serving retail load, demand response aggregators, to complex Combined Cycle generating facilities. We are an important part of the market operations group that bridges the challenging needs of ensuring Operations is able to reliably operate the grid to ensuring the wholesale market successfully settles on a day to day basis. The marketplace is rapidly evolving with a large increase in registration of renewables, such as wind and solar. Our systems are slow to evolve with these changes and we are currently working on a project known as Streamline Asset Registration (SAR). This is a multi-year initiative to improve our data entry and downstream system bridging for all our market assets.

How You Will Make an Impact:

Assist the team members in all types of asset registration, which includes preparing electronic forms and data entry
Coordinate both external utilities and project developers, along with many internal ISO departments in complex modeled asset registrations
Learn and incorporate logical solutions into the group’s processes and procedures

What We Look For:

Customer service experience, some office/administration experience
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Collaborates well with a team
Experience with SQL or other database querying preferred

Minimum Education Level: Rising Senior
Preferred Majors: Engineering, Business Administration or Economics

To be eligible for the internship candidate must have completed at least the first year of college and be currently enrolled in a four year or graduate-level academic program. Candidates must have the authority to work in the US on a permanent basis, without requiring sponsorship.
