ISO New England oversees the 24/7 operation of the power grid that covers the six-states of New England and administers the region’s $10+ billion “stock exchange” for the buying and selling of wholesale electricity. The power system is constantly evolving as new technologies emerge and energy policies evolve. There is a lot going on at our organization behind the scenes to make sure the grid continuously yields reliable electricity at competitive prices while addressing the unique challenges that come along with our industry.
Intern: Cyber Security Intrusion Monitoring and Response
The Security Operations Center (SOC) at ISO New England provides 24/7 Cyber Security monitoring in support of ISO New England's reliability function. This intern position will work with the SOC in conducting system and network monitoring, event analysis, threat intelligence gathering, and all other SOC administrative functions. This intern will work with the SOC Analysts on Cyber Security monitoring tasks and assist with analysis that will provide exposure to technical Cyber Security analysis techniques, such as packet analysis, log analysis, and digital forensics in support of compliance objectives.
How You Will Make an Impact:
- Collaborate with the SOC team members to support 24/7 Cyber Security monitoring and assist with Cyber Security event management
- Assist with SOC daily tasks and process improvement objectives to increase SOC efficiency, other duties as assigned
What We Look For:
- Computer programming/scripting i.e. java, python, C++
- Windows and/or Linux Operating systems
- Knowledge of the OSI Model
- Ability to troubleshoot
Minimum Education Level: Rising Junior
Preferred Majors: Cyber Security, Information Technology, Computer Science
To be eligible for the internship candidate must have completed at least the first year of college and be currently enrolled in a four year or graduate-level academic program. Candidates must have the authority to work in the US on a permanent basis, without requiring sponsorship.
