ENGINEER IV - Heterogeneous Integration (RF & Photonics)

EDUCATION DESIRED: PhD in electrical engineering, materials science, physics, or equivalent.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS. Work with a team developing state-of-the-art packaging technologies for mm-wave, EO and IR subsystems. Lead research and development projects on novel heterogeneous integration technologies for next-generation commercial and military applications. Conceive, market, and execute research programs. Work with circuit and system designers to extract packaging requirements from next-generation electronic system and subsystem designs. Supervise engineering staff to develop novel microfabrication processes and techniques. Write proposals and communicate results to internal and external customers. Must be able to work well in a creative team environment and possess excellent communication skills.

EXPERIENCE DESIRED: Semiconductor packaging design, modeling (RF, thermal, mechanical, electronical, photonics), processing, and characterization. Practical and theoretical understanding of packaging and a proven track record of leading experimental research and development programs required. Hands-on experience with microfabrication in developing MEMS, wafer-level-packaging or heterogeneous integration processes. Must have authored scientific publications and given technical presentations. Proposal writing and program management experience is a plus. Experience with RF and Photonics packaging desired.

KNOWLEDGE DESIRED: In-depth knowledge of microfabrication and package engineering, as well as fabrication techniques. Knowledge of RF and packaging modeling tools is desired. Proposal writing and program management. Technical writing and presentation skills.

ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS: Able to pursue difficult technical subjects independently, design experiment, analyze data, and provide solutions. Able to produce technical presentations and reports, and communicate effectively with colleagues and customers. Excellent written and verbal communications skills. Able to work within a semiconductor cleanroom environment.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS (e.g. driver’s license, special tools or restrictions): U.S. citizen or Permanent Resident status required.

This position must meet Export Control compliance requirements, therefore a "U.S. Person" as defined by 22 C.F.R. § 120.15 is required. "U.S. Person" includes U.S. Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.
