Engineer III - SQL Database Administrator and Developer
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Join a team of scientists and engineers creating a variety of next generation semi-conductor technologies. The applicant will be responsible for design, implementation, configuration, maintenance, and performance of Microsoft SQL databases. Modify and create new database objects (tables, indexes, views, stored procedures, etc.). Analyze and improve database performance. Write scripts to automate extraction, transformation, and loading of data. Perform system upgrades and backups. Replicate and synchronize databases across multiple servers and locations. Work closely with engineering and business teams to ensure database needs are met. Participate in design proposals/reviews, generate documentation, and assist with troubleshooting. Work closely with software engineers that develop database applications. Work closely with information assurance team to ensure data integrity and system health.
EXPERIENCE DESIRED: Proficiency in MS SQL technologies, database design, configuration and maintenance. Proficiency in writing, troubleshooting, and performance tuning of SQL queries, stored procedures, packages, and functions. Writing scripts for data extraction, transformation, and loading. Ability to identify problems and effectively communicate solutions to peers and management. Experience working in a team environment and interfacing with customers.
KNOWLEDGE DESIRED: MS SQL Server administration, database architecture, database replication. Scripting languages/shells such as Python, VBScript, Bash, PowerShell, etc. MS Office. Windows and Linux computing environments.
ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS: Excellent written and verbal communications skills, ability to work in a fast-paced environment with other team members, excellent problem solving skills, ability to spend long periods of time at a computer monitor.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS (e.g. driver’s license special tools or restrictions): U.S. citizenship. Active security clearance or ability to obtain one.
