ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
The Manager of Accounting will provide accounting expertise in areas such as revenue recognition, financial statement review, and long-term project accounting.The position will be the primary government and external auditor interface, and will define control objectives and monitor compliance efforts. This will include the identification and remediation of control gaps, as well as identify areas of potential improvement for key processes and procedures. The Accounting Manager will lead a team of six accountants who process accounts payable, audit expense reports for compliance with company practices, reconcile general ledger accounts, prepare journal entries, oversee Construction in Progress (CIP) Projects and their capitalization, manage inventory and fixed assets, prepare financial statements, support tax return preparation (property, sales, and income), and maintain an effective internal control environment.
Prefer accounting experience in a government-contracting environment and working knowledge of the compliance requirements in the Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR) and the Cost Accounting Standards (CAS).Demonstrated effective written and verbal communication skills with various functional disciplines and levels within an organization.Strong leadership skills with the ability to engage the department members and lead the team effectively.
Excellent computer skills, particularly in the use of MS Excel (Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP, Data Tables). Understanding of processes and the relationship to a strong internal controls environment.Ability to quickly learn and utilize enterprise resource planning (ERP) financial systems and tools such as Deltek Costpoint and Unanet.Good organizational and program oriented skills in meeting timelines and working toward common finance goals by setting priorities and working within deadlines. Understanding how to apply internal controls to meet the compliance requirements in the FAR and CAS.
