Engineer II - Process Integration (2nd Shift)
EDUCATION DESIRED: Bachelor or Master’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Materials Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Physics, Chemistry or related fields, OR equivalent experience.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: This exciting role will join a team pushing the state of the art in processing of silicon and III-V materials (GaAs, InP, GaN, etc). You will be assisting with the development of new fabrication processes and implementation of existing processes in IC fabrication, micromachining, and wafer-level integration. Job functions will include hands-on wafer fabrication based on existing written processes, developing new processes, planning and performing experiments, recording and analyzing data, presenting results, and communicating future processing improvements to HRL project managers.
EXPERIENCE DESIRED: We value your 3 or more years of experience with microelectronics semiconductor fabrication (DRIE, RIE, lithography, ALD, PECVD, plating and wet chemistry, metal and dielectric deposition, chemical-mechanical-polishing, wafer bonder, die attaching, etc) and metrology (optical microscope inspection, SEM, profilometry). Familiarity with CAD mask layout design is a plus.
KNOWLEDGE DESIRED: Processes associated with semiconductor IC fabrication is required, relating to semiconductor front end (FEOL) or back end of line (BEOL) processing; Familiarity with microelectronics packaging and chip/wafer level integration processes is beneficial. Knowledge of basic statistical process control and/or design of experiments principles is beneficial. Use of Microsoft office programs, standard data processing and analytical tools, and standard scientific software programs is required. Knowledge of statistical process control, six sigma methods, and 8D quality improvement processes is a plus. Familiarity with cadence or other layout tools is a plus.
ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS: Proficiency in use of computers, engineering work stations, complex electronic equipment, verbal and written communication, interaction with customers/colleagues and willingness to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment. Ability to work well in a team and independently. Must be sufficiently mobile to work within confined spaces and have both visual and hearing acuity. Must be able to work within a class 10 Cleanroom. Must be able to work safely with and around potentially toxic and hazardous materials, chemicals and gases.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: U.S. citizenship status required. Must be able to work second shift (12PM start time).
HRL offers a very competitive compensation and benefits package. Our benefits include medical, dental, vision, life insurance, 401K match, gym facilities, PTO, bonuses, growth potential, and an exciting and challenging work environment.
