Summer Internship in Quantum Measurement Laboratory
Come join HRL’s team of world-leading experts in silicon heterostructure quantum dots to help demonstrate and develop novel technologies. You will learn about all levels of cryogenic quantum measurement by helping to build and outfit a new top-of-the-line facility.
Education Desired :
Pursuing a Bachelors or Masters degree in Physics, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or related field.
Essential Job Functions :
This is a unique opportunity to work with a team of scientists and engineers to build a test laboratory designed to measure our custom quantum devices. Job functions will include assisting with the assembly and qualification of large cryogenic systems, assembly and qualification of custom electronics, and the design of custom mechanical parts and electronics.
Experience and Knowledge Desired:
Desirable experience includes building scientific equipment, using test equipment such as oscilloscopes and multimeters, using vacuum or cryogenic equipment, and with mechanical/electrical CAD design.
Essential Physical/Mental Requirements :
Ability to spend extended periods of time at a computer monitor. Ability to climb ladders and lift heavy objects. Ability to use hand and power tools. Excellent problem solving skills. Excellent written and verbal communications skills. Ability to work in a fast-paced heterogeneous team environment. Able to solve problems on your own and proactively identify the path forward.

U.S. citizenship is required.
