Engineer III - Systems Engineer

EDUCATION DESIRED: BS, MS or Ph.D in Systems, Electrical, Mechanical Engineering, Physics or related fields.
 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Perform day-to-day systems engineering activities to execute requirements management and/or verification and validation system engineering processes in a Lean new business/research-type environment. This requirements process includes requirements definition, decomposition, allocation and flowdown, analysis, management (including interfaces). The verification and validation processes include V&V planning, implementation, and sell-off.

EXPERIENCE DESIRED: At least 8 years as lead engineer with demonstrable experience in Systems Engineering
 

KNOWLEDGE DESIRED:

  • Strong hands-on experience with the Systems Engineering lifecycle, processes and the ability to apply these processes in a Lean new business/research-type environment is desired.

  • Proficiency in Excel macros and VBA in lieu of standard COTS SE tools, and ability to work with MATLAB and to generate engineered custom Excel tools for analysis is a plus.

  • Familiarity with the following is a plus: IBM/DOORS, Department of Defense Architecture Framework (DoDAF), Systems Modeling Language (SysML), Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE), and/or Multidisciplinary, Design, Analysis and Optimization (MDAO).

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (PowerPoint, Excel, Word, Project, Visio) is essential.

ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS: Proficiency in use of computers, engineering work stations, complex electronic equipment, oral and written communication, interaction with vendors/colleagues and willingness to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment. Ability to work well in a team and independently.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS (e.g. driver’s license, special tools or restrictions): U.S. citizenship is required. Must be able to obtain and maintain required security clearance.

This position must meet Export Control compliance requirements, therefore a "U.S. Person" as defined by 22 C.F.R. § 120.15 is required. "U.S. Person" includes U.S. Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.
