Engineer IV - Systems Engineer
EDUCATION DESIRED: BS, MS or Ph.D in Systems, Electrical, Mechanical Engineering, Physics or related fields.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Lead integrated teams through the development of system and subsystem designs, requirements, and interfaces via trade studies, analyses, and technical design reviews. Lead teams through the generation of detailed requirements for systems, flowing those requirements to subsystems and lower level assemblies. Support ConOps development, functional analysis, decomposition, and generate operational products. Improve the planning, implementation, and monitoring of the requirements management processes, tools, risk, issues, opportunity management and technology readiness assessment processes. Support hardware engineering, design reviews, and V&V.
Lead teams through the development of verification and validation plans. Lead integrated teams through the verification, troubleshooting, and selloff of system, subsystem and lower level assembly requirements.
EXPERIENCE DESIRED: At least 15 years as lead engineer with demonstrable experience in Systems Engineering
KNOWLEDGE DESIRED: Strong hands-on experience with the Systems Engineering lifecycle, processes and the ability to apply these processes in a Lean new business/research-type environment is essential.
Familiarity with the following is desired: IBM/DOORS, Department of Defense Architecture Framework (DoDAF), Systems Modeling Language (SysML), Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE), and/or Multidisciplinary, Design, Analysis and Optimization (MDAO).
Proficiency in Excel macros and VBA in lieu of standard COTS SE tools, and ability to work with MATLAB and to generate engineered custom Excel tools for analysis is a plus. Proficiency with Microsoft Office (PowerPoint, Excel, Word, Project, Visio) is essential.
ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS: Proficiency in use of computers, engineering work stations, complex electronic equipment, oral and written communication, interaction with vendors/colleagues and willingness to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment. Ability to work well in a team and independently.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS (e.g. driver’s license, special tools or restrictions): U.S. citizenship is required. Must be able to obtain and maintain required security clearance.
