Research Program Manager
EDUCATION DESIRED: M.S. or PhD in Electrical Engineering or Physical Sciences
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Lead diverse technical teams in successfully executing programs through all phases. Executive position with responsibility over a portfolio of projects. Responsible for meeting contract deliverables and sustaining healthy customer relationships. Responsible for meeting cost, schedule and performance. Collaborates with project teams in the establishment of plans and milestones and monitors execution to plan. Identifies risks and problems and proactively finds solutions. Key interface to customers. Responsible for the development of innovative system solutions and formulating business and technology strategy.
EXPERIENCE DESIRED: 5+ years in program and project management of US government contracts ($2M to $10M+). Experience with Advanced Development of Defense Systems including low and high frequency RF and/or photonics subsystems. Experience managing budgets of at least $10M per year. Experience leading multidisciplinary teams and interfacing with government customers is essential.
KNOWLEDGE DESIRED: Knowledge of systems engineering as well as program and requirements management processes and tools is required. Knowledge of the US government acquisition process is essential. Knowledge in preparing and reviewing financial reports and conducting budget analysis is essential. Essential to interact effectively with highly-technical staff. Electrical engineering background or basic understanding of electrical engineering concepts required.
Essential physical/mental requirements: Strong analytical and multi-tasking abilities with excellent written and verbal communication skills. Proficiency with Microsoft Project, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint is required.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS(e.g. driver’s license, special tools or restrictions): U.S. Citizenship is required. Security clearance or ability to obtain a security clearance is required.
