Engineer IV - RF Engineer
EDUCATION DESIRED: M.S. or Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Contribute technical expertise and work within a focused team that designs, fabricates, integrates and tests RF and electromagnetic components and subsystems at frequencies ranging from below 0.1 to 200+ GHz. Work closely with scientists and engineers to develop state of the art RF components such as antenna and RF front-ends for communication, radar and EW applications. Additional job functions include solving customer problems, writing invention disclosures, publishing papers, briefing customers, participating in proposal activities and assisting in marketing HRL expertise.
EXPERIENCE DESIRED: Minimum 3 years experience with high-frequency circuit, electro-magnetic and system simulators such as ADS, AWR, VSS, Sonnet, HFSS and other RF & EM tools for design of antennas and RF front end modules and sub-assemblies. Experience with standard microwave equipment such as VNA, spectrum analyzer, antenna ranges, etc is essential.
KNOWLEDGE DESIRED: Working knowledge of high frequency RF/EM simulators and CAD layout. A working familiarity with common passive and active microwave structures and network analysis techniques. Knowledge of module and subsystem operation/integration is a plus. Understanding of device physics desired.
ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS: Applicant must be able to interact professionally with program managers, co-workers, customers, operate complex electronic equipment, perform detailed analyses of integrated circuits, and prepare written and oral presentations. Ability to work well in a team and independently. Must be willing to travel and work in a team of highly skilled engineers on complex projects, and willingness to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
