Scientist IV - Autonomous Systems
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Primary job function is algorithm and system software development for autonomous vehicles and platforms. Task will include integration of software and hardware on autonomous platforms, the development of new algorithms and capabilities for perception, cognitive processing, control and planning and the development of system and module simulations. Additional job functions include solving customer problems, writing invention disclosures, publishing papers, briefing customers, and assisting in marketing HRL expertise.
EXPERIENCE DESIRED: Essential: software development and integration practices for large systems in team environments; vehicle and environment simulations and games (Matlab/Simulink, Unity, Unreal, vehicle/environment simulations such as Prescan, Vires, Vissim, dSpace, CARSIM, CARLA, AirSim, Sumo, Metamoto, DeepDrive); training and testing of autonomous vehicles or platforms in simulation and real world situations. Desired: Demonstrated capability to develop new algorithms for machine learning; system and vehicle hardware integration.
KNOWLEDGE DESIRED: Background in one or more of the following areas: autonomous systems, autonomous vehicles, robotic systems, software systems and development methods and methods for training and testing in simulation and with real vehicles. Good programming skills.
ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS: Good communication (verbal and written) skills, active participation in R & D team activities is required.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS (e.g. driver’s license special tools or restrictions): U.S. citizenship or permanent resident status required.
