HawaiiUSA Federal Credit Union is currently looking for a technically savvy, team-oriented Systems Engineer to join our Information Technology Team.  The Systems Engineer provide systems services and support to the activities and resources required to provide quality computer operations processing and system resource management and availability. This includes: setup, support, and implementation, meeting/providing standards for systems facilities, servers, storage, data-backup, workstations, peripherals, infrastructure, security equipment/solutions, telephony, related tools, software, and applications, troubleshooting and resolving problems associated with local and wide area network environments, including systems monitoring, and network security elements, dealing with hardware and software vendors as well as technical support issues, troubleshooting PC software and coordinating with help desk as required, and overseeing software and systems administration including communications equipment designed to maintain wide area networks.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Associate or higher degree in the field of computer science, information science, management information systems, or business administration preferred (can be substituted with certification and related experience)

  • Experience in managing and configuring enterprise-wide LANs, WANs, WLANs, VPNs, etc.

  • Network+, Security+, and Microsoft MCITP or MSCE Certification preferred

  • Knowledge of TCP/IP networking and PC operating environments such as UNIX, AIX, and Windows.

  • Hands-on experience troubleshooting hardware such as servers, routers, bridges, switches, hubs, modems, and network interface cards

  • Ability to work both independently and cohesively with others, fosters team environment

  • Ability to handle all confidential matters professionally; always maintaining the privacy of our member’s account information

  • Excellent knowledge of current protocols and standards

  • Experience with telecommunication operations

  • Knowledge and understanding of system flow charts, data processing concepts, and telecommunications principles

  • Experience installing network cabling and patching telephony systems

  • Demonstrated leadership and personnel management skills

  • Knowledge of applicable data privacy practices and laws

  • Strong interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills

  • Ability to perform general mathematical calculations for the purpose of creating needs assessments, budgets, and so on

  • Ability to conduct research into networking issues and products as required

  • Ability to prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment and make sound decisions in emergency situations

  • Ability to present ideas in a user-friendly language

  • Highly self-motivated and self-directed

  • Keen attention to detail

  • Proven analytical and problem-solving abilities

  • Strong customer service orientation

  • Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment
