It’s an exciting time to be at the Great Lakes Water Authority (GLWA)! GLWA employs hundreds of technical and administrative staff, all working to ensure effective water resource recovery and to deliver our award-winning drinking water to more than 127 wholesale customers in eight southeast Michigan counties.

We are looking for a Team Leader who will provide QA/QC on work completed including monitoring performance and timely completeness, while planning and arranging activities related with equipment maintenance to enhance equipment and plant reliability. This role is primarily responsible for preparing work packages for every planned maintenance activity inclusive of repetitive maintenance PM and CM work kits.
 

Responsibilities (not all inclusive)

  • You will coordinate plant shutdowns to execute all essential schedules and provide guidance for the least amount of production downtime based on criticality and facility needs
  • You’ll support compliance to any Lean Manufacturing goals and objectives such as 5S: Sort, Shine, Sweep, Standardize, Sustain

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

KNOWLEDGE OF:

  • Computerized maintenance management system or asset management systems
  • Fluid understanding of work performed by various skilled trades
  • Spreadsheet, word processing, MS office and email systems
  • Safe work practices
  • Standard Operating Procedures

SKILL TO:

  • Analyze data, generate spreadsheets, provide innovative solutions
  • Generate graphs and charts to communicate data visually to partners
  • Use Business Intelligence programs to extract data from database
  • Develop new measures for monitoring and improving maintenance activities as necessary.
  • Analyze data ensuring resources are being efficiently used and goals are being met
  • Complete modifications to our (CMMS) system as necessary to accommodate operations, build entries for new equipment, modify existing equipment entries, modify work scheduling in the system and keep work backlog in check
  • Source supplies and materials as needed for the maintenance work by researching supplies needed, obtaining quotations for supplies, crafting requisitions for supplies
  • Track requisitions/supplies to ensure that they move through the procurement process quickly
  • Secure quotes and schedule vendors

  • Assist in disaster preparedness
  • Schedule daily work for team members so that time and materials are effectively and efficiently used

Required education and experience:

  • Associate Degree in related operational or functional field, such as Engineering, Chemistry, or other Sciences from an accredited college or university; or a combination of related work experience, accreditation and education
  • Michigan F or S license (Water and Field Services only)
  • Proficiency in spreadsheet and word processing computer applications
  • Valid Michigan Driver’s License
  • Ability to work irregular hours, commute to GLWA facilities and work sites, and respond to after hour emergencies and on-call responses

This position requires extensive computer use and extended time seated in meetings. The ability to ascend and descent stairs, navigate uneven terrain and navigate wet surfaces. The ability to perform inspections of facility worksites, and work processes including standing, stooping, bending and climbing ladders. This position may require work in confined spaces, elevated locations and descend underground, lift a minimum of 30 pounds, walk, stand, or work for long periods of time, demonstrate normal color perception, hear audible alarms and detect abnormal equipment sounds; visually inspect equipment and processes at any time of the day or night, pass vision, based on job assignment may require biomechanical and baseline physical and annual fit tests, wear respiratory protection and other personal protective equipment; at specific job sites may require the ability to carry, stack, dig, shovel, hit, push, pull and other efforts that require considerable physical strength.
