Patient Affairs Coordinator - OBGYN Advanced Reproductive Medicine
The Patient Affairs Coordinator is responsible for providing outstanding customer service to both physicians and patients in scheduling patient encounters within the Division of Advanced Reproductive Medicine. The individual in this position will perform a broad spectrum of duties related to the effective and efficient scheduling of patients for outpatient visits and procedures in the Stapleton patient office. Maintain precise interactions with nurses, physicians, and any other departments or functions involved in the delivery of patient care services. Schedule outpatient visits and procedures, prepare all necessary documentation within medical record for physicians to review, and email new patient packet to patients. Ensure all patient visits are scheduled appropriately and current insurance information is obtained. Collect accurate copays for office visits, blood draw visits and procedures, reconcile payments at the end of each day, and prepare deposit for pickup by courier. Obtain referrals and insurance authorizations as necessary for all clinic patient encounters, procedures, and surgeries which requires interaction with insurance companies and a working knowledge of various types of insurance along with CPT and Dx coding. Schedule and/or attend various meetings to facilitate communication of key information regarding patient scheduling or other activities related to the accomplishment of the Division’s clinical activities. Coordinate clinical workload for physicians to include answering patient phone calls and directing them appropriately. Perform other duties and assist with special projects as assigned.
Requires a high school diploma or equivalent with a minimum of 1 years’ experience in a health-care setting including exposure to complex patient scheduling in an electronic medical record system. EPIC/IDX experience is highly preferred. Must demonstrate expertise with various computer programs including all MS Office Suite applications. High level verbal and written communication in conjunction with professional telephone etiquette is essential. Exceptional customer service skills with the ability to maintain a positive attitude at all times and work with diversified customer clientele is required. Must be flexible and capable of handling multiple and shifting priorities. The ability to handle sensitive information in a confidential manner is required. Must demonstrate the ability to act independently, have excellent interpersonal skills, and be able to maintain positive working relationships. Broad knowledge of medical practice front office operations and medical terminology is required. Familiarity with insurance plans, ICD-10/CPT coding and the prior authorization requirements for procedures and tests is a plus.
