Under the supervision of the Youth and Daytime Program Coordinator, the Youth Department Assistant Program Coordinator is responsible for researching, developing, implementing, planning, and coordinating lesson plans for School’s Out and other art education events. 


This role also involves planning and coordinating Columbia Art Center’s art parties and assisting with promotional events for youth ages 5-18 in accordance with Columbia Art Center’s Youth Programs philosophy, policies, procedures, and operations — exercising responsible professional judgment and technical skill.


Requirements:

  • Minimum of one year of full-time experience in a supervisory or administrative capacity in a community arts organization or educational program.

  • Experience in planning and coordinating recreational activities such as games, sports, arts and crafts, social events and special events.  

  • Well-networked in the local community.

  • Must have the ability to perform multiple tasks simultaneously and to quickly move from one activity to another, as needed.

  • Must be willing to work unconventional hours, attend community meetings and events at the facilities on evenings and weekends.

  • Must possess skills in the areas of analytical thinking, consensus building, empowerment, strategic thinking, and constructively dealing with conflict.
