The Open Space Operations Foreman serves as the team leader for one or more crews. They are responsible for scheduling, participating, assigning tasks and supervising the performance of the Open Space Operations Crew Supervisor, Open Space Operations Senior Technician, Open Space Operations Technician, Town Center Operations Worker, Open Space Operations Worker, Open Space Operations Worker (Temporary), and contractors in the course of implementing the Annual Open Space Maintenance Program. 

Examples of the Annual Open Space Maintenance Program are the maintenance and assurance of safety of turf areas, playgrounds, pathways, bridges, plaza areas, parking lots, lakes, ponds, streams and snow removal. They will also be required to assist with generating ideas, suggestions and overseeing programs and projects that protect and enhance Columbia Association’s watershed and water quality. They will respond to and resolve various concerns and requests submitted by Columbia residents; vendors; CA’s internal departments; and county, state and local agencies. 

A large part of the Open Space Operations Foreman’s duties include interaction with Columbia’s diverse community. Therefore, it is essential for them to professionally communicate verbally and in writing to the diverse community we serve. The Open Space Operations Foreman is also expected to participate on internal and external committees when necessary.
