Help save lives every day! Bloodworks has an opening for a Substitute Courier. This integral role will provide reliable, efficient transportation of blood components; blood related products and testing samples as well as other business related materials for Bloodworks and its customers.
ANTICIPATED START DATE - JUNE 1ST
PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES- As a Substitute Courier:
Proficiently perform the duties of a Local, Regional Courier and/or Dispatcher as needed
Fill in shifts for regularly scheduled staff who are absent, and to fill shifts that are temporarily open due to a change in staffing or a shift that is not a -regular part of the Local or Regional Courier schedule.
Provide and maintain a current availability calendar to assist in communicating weekly availability..
Check the newly posted schedule weekly to confirm work shifts. Expect to be assigned to open shifts without prior notice based on the availability calendar.
Pick up and transport a variety of -blood components and other business related materials throughout the Bloodworks’ service area.
Maintain an accurate and complete log of all shipments handled.
Ensure full compliance with the standards set forth in the BloodworksNW Vehicle Safety and Training Policy
Attend required in-service training, staff meetings and driver training courses.
Maintain a professional appearance, including the required wearing of issued articles of uniform apparel.
Assist the Dispatcher and/or Regional Courier Scheduler with any required revisions to directions, as well as report any procedural or other changes that may be required to improve the efficiency and accuracy of the Transportation Department.
May train and be required to perform the duties of a Regional Courier Scheduler, Scheduled Delivery Route Courier, and/or Dispatcher.
Perform other duties as assigned.
SPECIFIC JOB SKILLS
To obtain access to some client facilities, incumbent may be required to apply for and obtain clearance to access the client property. This clearance process may require incumbent to
undergo additional levels of screening beyond Bloodworks‘ required pre-employment screening.
The ability to, operate a motor vehicle, push and pull 250lbs and lift and carry up to 5000 lbs. throughout a normal day, and heavy lifting (rarely).
Position requires some overtime, on call status, evening meetings.
High School Diploma or equivalent.
Maintain a valid Washington State driver's license and meet the MVR standards required by Bloodworks Northwest’s Vehicle Safety and Training Policy.
Possess a driver’s license for at least 3 years.
Must pass post-offer, pre-employment drug/chemical dependency test and comply with departmental Drug & Alcohol Policy and pre-hire back ground check.
Ability to lift up to 60 pounds.
Must be able to adjust to a variety of vehicles.
