Health Care reporter
The Richmond-Times Dispatch is seeking a health care reporter who can help readers make sense of the coronavirus pandemic in the Richmond region and across Virginia. You’ll be in charge of interpreting the shifting numbers and rules that leaders are releasing as the state reopens. You’ll also be expected to push for more details and hold people accountable.
This is a full-time position that will require a mix of daily news, features, enterprise and investigation. You’ll need to be comfortable firing questions at a hospital CEO one minute and talking to a grieving mother about the worst day of her life the next. You’ll cover the industry, but you won’t lose sight of how it touches people at home. The ideal candidate will be able to strike a balance among aggressive beat reporting, thoughtful data analysis and compassionate storytelling.
