The Aquatic Center's purpose is to provide high quality boating and safety programs through education, recreation and competition; and to bring regional and national recognition to Associated Students Inc., and Sacramento State, increasing the value of the students degree.

The Sacramento State Aquatic Center is a proud program of Associated Students, Inc. The Aquatic Center is a National Boating Instruction Safety Center located on beautiful Lake Natoma. The Aquatic Center offers a variety of classes, camps, facility reservations, team building, youth groups and equipment rentals.  We are open to the general public.

The Aquatic Center offers the following activities: Sailing, Windsurfing, Standup Paddling, Kayaking, Canoeing, Outrigger Canoeing, Rowing, Water Skiing, Wakeboarding, and Jet Skiing.

SUMMARY:
Under the direct supervision of the Water Ski/Wakeboard Manager, the Water Ski/Wakeboard Instructor will support the Water Ski, Wakeboard, Personal Water Craft classes and camps.


 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Maintain and report items and equipment related to water skiing, wakeboarding, and personal water craft (PWC) that needs attention.

  • This will require personally instructing classes, camps or private lessons as assigned. Be able to teach under variable conditions

  • Enforce and adhere to policies and procedures that are necessary to manage programs.

  • Ensure equipment maintenance for safe operation in collaboration with Water Ski/Wake board manager and or Facilities Supervisor. Recommend replacement as needed.

  • Promote current wake board and water ski programs.

  • Keep up with industry standards and teaching techniques.

  • Provide support during Aquatic Center special events as required. This requires working overtime.

  • Drive program vehicles for classes, trips or activities as needed.

  • Maintain accurate pre-trip records and ensure Aquatic Center busses and vans are in compliance.

  • Other duties may be assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 2 years minimum inboard boat driving experience

  • 2 years field experience – teaching and coaching in a recreation or water environment

  • Must demonstrate compenice to trailer/ tow and be responsible on the water in powerboat specific to our program

  • High School Diploma or equivalent

  • Current First Aid, CPR, Life guarding Certificates

  • California Department Boating and Waterways, Home Study Course Certificate

  • California Department Boating and Waterways Drivers License, or For Hire License

  • Must be able to work in a variety of weather conditions and be prepared for both heat and cold

  • Ability to comply with ASI driving criteria


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Class B driver’s license

  • AWSA (American Water Ski or American Wake Board Association) Member

  • AWSA Level 1 Instructor Certificate

  • AWSA trained driver Certificate 

All Aquatic Center Staff must sign a Code of Conduct and Dress Code Agreement
