SEO’s purpose is to provide holistic student-centered programs and services that
enhance student life and create lasting memories through community engagement,
connection building, and creative exploration.

Summary: The KSSU Sports Director is the primary contact for all sports broadcasting at KSSU. The Sports Director’s responsibilities include: maintaining a positive and active relationship with Hornet Athletics personnel, producing and broadcasting sports programming, setting up equipment at Hornet Athletics remote broadcasts, compiling a calendar of sports broadcasts, supervise assistant sports broadcasters, and interviewing Hornet student athletes. 

PAY RATE: $13.00/hr 


Manages all KSSU sports programming including but not limited to: play-by-play broadcasts and weekly KSSU sports radio shows

Schedules and plans all Hornet Athletics sports broadcasts

Facilitates volunteer involvement with sports broadcasts

Maintains a positive, professional relationship with Hornet Athletics staff

Compiles sports broadcasting schedule and communicates this schedule to KSSU staff

Maintains all remote sports broadcasting equipment

Sets up sports equipment for each broadcast

Supervises the work of volunteers in the KSSU on-air studio and at Hornet Athletics facilities

Attends weekly KSSU staff meetings

Other duties as assigned

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

Ability to follow oral and written instructions

Strong leadership skills

Ability to work independently and be self-directed

Ability to work collaboratively with a diverse student population, ASI programs and on-campus departments


Currently enrolled Sac State student in good standing

Computer literacy, especially in Word, Outlook

Prior experience in working with volunteers


Sports broadcasting experience

Knowledge of pertinent FCC regulations

Prior experience as a KSSU volunteer or staff member

Computer literacy in Adobe Audition

Experience working with JK Remote Mix or similar equipment
