The Resource Center has been providing services to persons with disabilities in the Chautauqua County area since 1958. From our humble beginnings as a gathering of parents and concerned citizens who wanted to provide educational and training opportunities for persons with developmental and intellectual disabilities, The Resource Center has grown into a comprehensive agency providing services to thousands of persons with all types and levels of disabilities.

The Resource Center is the largest non-governmental employer in Chautauqua County with more than 1,300 employees on its payroll.

The mission of The Resource Center is to support individuals with disabilities and other challenges in achieving maximum independence, contributing to their community, experiencing lifelong growth, and enjoying quality of life.



Under the direct supervision of the
Supervising Pharmacist, provides a full range of pharmacy tasks within the
scope of services available at The Resource Center Pharmacy and as developed by
the department supervisor.  Ensures the
professional and efficient delivery of pharmacy services to consumers at The
Resource Center.




The ability
to work with people.  The willingness and
ability to learn and implement departmental and organizational policies and
procedures, in compliance with State and Federal regulatory agencies.  Reliability, flexibility and willingness and
ability to provide 24/7 on-call support to Pharmacy, which may or may not
involve opening the Pharmacy and dispensing medications during non-business
hours.  Must have excellent
organizational skills, be detail-oriented and be willing to maximize
productivity.  A working knowledge of
computer systems.  Must possess strong
verbal and written communication skills and enjoy working with people from
diverse socio-economic and diagnostic backgrounds.  Physical condition or reasonable
accommodation(s) commensurate with the demands of the job.




Bachelors degree from an accredited
School of Pharmacy.  Current New York
State Pharmacy license.  Valid driver’s
license and ability to travel for work or equivalent accommodations required.




  1. Dispenses drugs that are ordered by a
    licensed practitioner, which will include: proper medication, container, label
    indicating directions for administration as written or confirmed by the
    ordering practitioner.  May include unit
    dose packaging as necessary.


  2. Acts as liaison for customer and
    community practitioners for confirmation, clarification, or renewal or drugs,
    and maintains records with practitioner’s prescriptions on each customer.


  3. Responsible for contacting
    practitioners for any changes in medications due to formulary limitations with


  4. Assists in the proper maintenance of
    environmental conditions for drug storage to ensure the safe dispensation of


  5. Assists in the continuous maintenance
    of drug inventory and assists in the ordering of drugs in a timely manner.


  6. May assist the Supervising Pharmacist
    in assuring that the drug inventory is current and assists in the disposal or
    return of outdated drugs as directed by the New York State Pharmacy Board.


  7. Will provide proper customer training
    to clarify directions for administration of medications as well as provide a
    written overview of the usage and side effects of specific drugs.


  8. Contributes to the customer profile
    via computer for each customer receiving prescriptions from The Resource Center


  9. Assists the Supervising Pharmacist in
    the quarterly review of all ICF medication profiles as needed or assigned.


  10. Assists the Supervising Pharmacist
    with monthly MAR (Medication Administration Record) for all TRC Residential


  11. Ensures delivery of medications to all
    TRC-operated residential facilities.


  12. Will supply emergency boxes to Primary
    Care Clinic, Dental Clinics and SBHC (School-based Health Center) and replace
    when outdated.


  13. Provides 24/7 on-call service to
    TRC-operated Residential facilities/consumers in conjunction with other licensed
    pharmacist(s) on staff.


  14. Will provide in-service training to
    residential staff as requested and conduct periodic inspection of medication
    storage areas to assure regulatory compliance in the absence of or as assigned
    by the Supervising Pharmacist. 


  15. Provides professional supervision of
    pharmacy staff in the absence of the Supervising Pharmacist, to ensure all
    duties performed are accurate, within the guidelines of the State Pharmacy
    Board and acceptable for third party reimbursement.


  16. Responsible for proper implementation
    of current pharmacy policies and procedures in compliance with regulations set
    forth by the New York State Pharmacy Board and as developed by the Supervising


  17. Assures daily deposit is brought to
    the bank.


  18. Keeps informed of new drugs on the
    market, research on side effects, drug interactions and drug recalls for
    ensuring the safety of TRC Pharmacy consumers.


  19. Performs all other related duties as
    needed or assigned.
