Paya is looking for a Staff Accountant for a full-time role to be based in our Reston, VA location.

This position will be responsible for supporting daily accounting operations and month end close. The Staff Accountant will be responsible for supporting numerous general bookkeeping and accounting tasks such as journal entries, accruals, reconciliations, cash and
other ad-hoc tasks. 
The Staff Accountant will report to the Assistant Controller and support the Accounting and Finance team. The position requires the desire to take ownership of your work, is self-motivated and works well with other team members.

Requirements: 

Candidate should possess strong communication and analytical skills, incredible attention to detail, and the ability to contribute to the success of the business outside of the Finance & Accounting discipline.
Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting. Prefer 1-2+ years of relevant background in financial technology, financial services, or banking.
Ideal
candidate is one who is focused on process improvement, automation, and finding efficiencies in on-going operations.
Proven ability to manage multiple tasks and adapt to changing, fast paced environment.
Detail orientated with
strong organizational skills.
Candidate should have the desire and ability to work as a team player with urgency and aspiration for accuracy.
Experience with NetSuite a plus.

What You’ll Do:
Participate in the day-to-day operations of the Accounting team.
Participate in month-end close activities and prepare journal entries.
P
repare monthly balance sheet reconciliations.
Area of responsibility includes cash, revenue, bad debt, accruals, fixed assets, intangible assets, rent and debt.
Work with external auditors to provide audit requests.
Assist in other ad-hoc projects as needed.
