Position Summary:
We are looking for a Underwriter for a full-time role to be based in our Dunwoody location. The candidate should be able to underwrite merchant processing account. Ensures compliance with boarding guidelines and policies, and assists with other responsibilities of the underwriting team. The
successful candidate will have credit/underwriting experience and knowledge, preferably within a payment processing environment. 

The expected skill set will include the ability to read tax returns and personal/commercial reports.

Essential functions:

1). Merchant Underwriting: (75%)
Verifies merchant application information, coordinating the collection of missing data and documentation.
Analyzes and underwrites new merchant applications.
Re-evaluate existing merchant accounts as requested by the other internal departments.

2). Underwriting Remediation: (15%)
Understands /Process the appropriate registrations needed for higher risk applications with Paya’s bank sponsor.
Assist internal and external agents in resolving underwriting related issues.
Ability to communicate adequately to ISOs, partners etc. underwriting decision and associated policies.

3). U/W Department: (10%)
Contributes to regular staff meetings to discuss merchant accounts, trends, losses, etc. 
Present ideas to management for continuous improvement of procedures and efficiencies.

 4). Perform other duties as assigned.

Autonomy: Under limited supervision; practices and process in place to guide work; completes work independently; consults with supervisor to resolve problems.  

Supervision: Does not supervise employees.

Associates degree required/ Bachelor preferred.
Minimum 2 years experience as an Underwriter.
Must be to able read and interpret personal and commercial credit reports. 
Prefer ability to read and interpret tax returns and/or corporate financial statements. 
Working knowledge of the payments industry and understanding of Visa/MC association regulations and guidelines is preferred.
Must have working knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Excel and Word.

Work Environment:
Day Shift and office environment/no specific unusual physical or environmental demands.
