Sales General - RV Business Unit Manager

 

REPORTING TO:   President of Ameri-Kart

SUMMARY:  The Business Unit Manager is responsible for visionary leadership of a cross-functional Business Unit Team to ensure the financial performance of the assigned product line,
including bookings, P&L, and new business generation.  The Business Unit Manager must be able to work collaboratively with all functional departments to achieve on-time performance,
quality, and overall customer satisfaction.

 

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:  Include, but are not limited to:

  • Uses 80/20 as a guiding principle to develop overall vision and strategy for a
    specific business segment.

  • Delivers business results (P&L, meeting annual plan & growth value for a
    business). 

  • Selects and leads a cross functional business unit team (sales, operations,
    engineering, quality to create real intrinsic value.  Ensures all team members have necessary
    knowledge, skills, and abilities to achieve key business results for the
    segment.  Leads by example in modeling
    high energy, enthusiasm, commitment and customer service.

  • Promotes teamwork between self and others.

  • Leads Value Creation including value based pricing, continual cost improvement, and
    identifying profitable new business opportunities.

  • Develops strong relationships with customers and understands the end-user’s needs.  Supports field sales through customer
    interface at key accounts.

  • Analyzes potential partner relationships, distribution channels and sales
    representatives for RV products.

  • Champions the cultural expectations for organizational safety, 5S, and risk reduction
    programs.

  • Deploys LEAN principles in the business unit, incorporating a Continuous Improvement system.  Ensures that team members are
    equipped with skills such as leading kaizen events.

  • Ensures that terms and conditions of new proposals and contracts conform to Company policy and business unit strategic business plan.

  • Reviews all operational and business processes to ensure they meet or exceed quality standards. Ensures customer service and cost objectives are met.

  • Proposes process improvements based on cultural and business goals.

  • Exercises organizational development theories, as necessary, to influence major
    organizational changes of systems, programs and processes.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE

  • 5 years of experience in business development and direct sales
    activity in a manufacturing company, with responsibility for forecasting,
    budgeting, and achieving specific metrics.

  • 5 years of experience in a leadership role, preferably within
    matrix structure, and including direct reports.

     

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor of Science Degree required.

  • Strong business acumen including the following:

    • Knowledge
      of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource
      allocation, leadership technique, and coordination of people and resources

    • Knowledge
      of economic and accounting principles and practices

    • Knowledge
      of principles and methods for showing, promoting, and selling products or
      services

    • Proven
      ability to analyze current business issues, end-user needs, and formulate
      market segmentation strategies while directing both qualitative and
      quantitative research

  • Professional written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills

  • Ability to motivate teams to produce quality materials within tight timeframes and
    simultaneously manage several projects.

  • Willingness to work a flexible schedule.

  • Computer literacy, Microsoft Office products required

  • High level of Emotional Intelligence.
