General & Administrative - Product Engineer
The Role: The Plastics Engineer will be responsible for support of product development related to the rotational molding and vacuum form industry.
Under general supervision, prepares routine plans, designs, specifications, estimates, and reports. Completes ECN process to completion.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESinclude the following. Other duties may be assigned.
§Identify plastics capabilities and evaluate against customer requirements in the rotational molding and vacuum form industry.
§Applies technical engineering / drafting techniques in the preparation of engineering drawings and other graphic material using computer-aided drafting
§Maintains revision level necessary to define product configuration and control manufacturing processes
§Communicates new product and engineering changes to appropriate departments following ECN process
§Work with process partners to develop costs for new model and engineering change projects
§Processes product change notices and maintains continuity of BOM for assigned projects
§Actively seek and recommend ways to improve products, equipment, tooling and processes to increase overall quality, productivity, capacity, lead times and gross margins
§Consult with clients, vendors, or others to discuss and formulate project timelines on new/existing products
§Assist in tooling development / purchase requisitions and manage tooling delivery
§Responsible for creating and maintaining multiple computer controlled documents
§Participate in new model development team and other tasks as directed
§Research and develop new manufacturing processes
Technical requirements desired:
§Strong demonstrated understanding of plastics manufacturing properties, processes and capabilities
§Experience dealing with mold designing and production in rotational molding and vacuum form
§Proficient in reading engineering drawings, CAD software drawing capabilities
§PPAP process proficiency and working with customers and suppliers on feasibility reviews

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Bachelor’s degree in Plastics, Materials or related Engineering discipline in plastics or materials engineering or Master’s degree in Plastics, Materials or related Engineering discipline.
Must possess ability to read, analyze, interpret and organize general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Must be able to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals in a professional manner. Must have ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from coworkers, managers, and customers.
Must be able to calculate figures and amounts such as area, circumference, distance, and volume.
Must possess ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Must be able to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
