Weekend Supervisor (MAH160)
GENERAL SUMMARY:Under the general supervision of the Program Coordinators for Mt. Airy, Weinberg, and Norris, the Weekend Supervisor acts as the supervisor for part time and on call weekend staff. The Weekend Supervisor acts as clinical back up and as a liaison with the Program Coordinators, and will serve as a role model for staff. The Weekend Supervisor also assists in providing a safe and therapeutic environment for all clients and staff.
PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:1. Provides direct supervision to part time and on call weekend staff. 2. Provides leadership in engaging clients in rehabilitation activities. 3. Monitors required documentation. 4. Instructs, assists, and monitors in accordance with individual rehabilitation plans. 5. Instructs, assists, and monitors in accordance with medication monitoring procedures. 6. Assists in securing coverage for open shifts. 7. Assesses crisis situations. 8. Contacts on-call supervisor or designee when needed. 9. Participates in the evaluation of the program’s effectiveness and efficiency and works to ensure continuous improvements in quality of services. 10. Assists in providing a safe and therapeutic environment according to established policies and procedures. 11. Coordinates orientation of new weekend employees. 12. Performs all other direct job related duties as is assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:1. Work requires comprehensive knowledge of individual and group dynamics usually acquired through a Bachelors degree in psychology or related field, and/or 1 year of direct job related experience. 2. Work requires possession of a valid MD State issued drivers license, and a current driving record with 3 or fewer points. 3. Work requires 1 to 3 month orientation period to obtain sufficient familiarity with behavioral rehabilitation methods, procedures and techniques, program policies and procedures and specific patient populations. 4. Work requires interpersonal skills sufficient to establish therapeutic relationships with mentally ill residents and to communicate and work effectively with residents in accordance with rehabilitation plans. 5. Work requires possession of analytical skills sufficient to handle routine administrative tasks.
WORKING CONDITIONS:Normal activity center environment, where there is no physical discomfort due to temperature, dust or noise. May have some exposure to cigarette smoke in area designated for residents' smoking.
REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS:Reports to the assigned Program Coordinator.
