General Summary: Under the guidance and supervision of the Chief of Community Treatment Services, the Director of Addictions is responsible for the overall management, development, and implementation of new and current substance abuse services in the Sheppard Pratt Health System. The Director shall have operational oversight of substance abuse services for clients throughout the service area and will develop new outpatient programs including referral relations strategies.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
• Program expansion for new high evidence based addiction services.
• Development of “state of the art” treatment delivery.
• Ensure services are provided which effectively address identified client needs.
• Ensure services are provided by staff who are trained, privileged and competent to perform assigned duties.
• Ensure clinical oversight, guidance, support and training are provided for staff.
• Ensure all programs operate with the quality and excellence inherent in Sheppard Pratt's mission.
• Development of relationships with referral sources.
• Hire, train and retain top talent and participates in the performance management process
• Supervise and work directly with staff to develop and monitor clinical quality assurance procedures to ensure a scientific basis is used in determining which clinical activities to implement and continue.
• Evaluate staff's productivity and analyzes cost effectiveness of services, and budgets.
• Evaluate quality of services rendered and provides for in service education.
• Develop and implement program policies and operating procedures in compliance with appropriate standards.
• Ensure programs operate in compliance with agency policy and state and contractual and accreditation requirements.
• Ensure that facilities are in compliance with administrative and licensing requirements.
• Monitor compliance with applicable standards.
• Ensure integrated addictions treatment with mental health services and primary care as appropriate
• Coordinate service program activities with other county departments
• Attend staff meetings, seminars and conferences to upgrade personal knowledge of substance abuse and treatment techniques
• Make written and oral reports and presentations regarding program operations.
• Provide and promotes excellent customer service for all internal and external customers.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:
• Five (5) years of full-time or its equivalent experience in the substance abuse field providing program administration.
• Two (2) years of which must have been in a lead, supervisory or administrative capacity. Entrepreneurial experience developing new addictions programs.
• Preferred candidate will have a Master’s degree and status as a Licensed Substance Abuse Professional

Working Conditions:
Generally work occurs in an office environment with normal temperatures and office working conditions.

Reporting Relationship:
Reports to Chief of Community Treatment
