MacLean Power Systems (MPS) is a leading manufacturer of products for electric utility, telecommunications and civil markets.

Summary: 

Develops and implements optimal, cost-effective manufacturing processes and methods in accordance with product specifications and quality standards. Recommends and implements improvements to production processes, methods and controls. Priorities include process improvement, problem resolution, project management and employee training.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develops, evaluates, and improves manufacturing processes by applying lean manufacturing and cellular/JIT concepts.

  • Analyzes and plans work force utilization, space requirements, and workflow, and designs layout of equipment and workspace for maximum efficiency.

  • Designs, develops, tests or sources and cost-justifies various tools, machinery and equipment for recommended manufacturing methods.

  • Confers with planning and design staff concerning product design and tooling to ensure efficient production methods.

  • Confers with vendors to determine product specifications and arrange for purchase of equipment, materials, or parts, and evaluates products according to specifications and quality standards.

  • Prepares economic justifications.

  • Develops capital project proposals as appropriate.

  • Estimates production times, staffing requirements, and related costs to provide information for management decisions.

  • Confers with management, engineering, and other staff regarding manufacturing capabilities, production schedules, and other considerations to facilitate production processes.

  • Applies statistical methods in conducting machine and process capability studies.

  • Collects and analyses data.

Qualifications:

  • Must be able to improve manufacturing processes and methods for cost-reduction, quality improvement and efficiency.

  • Must prepare and present plans for the above and coordinate deployment including training of team members.

  • Must be able to assist in improving a system of production control, standard operating procedures, safety, quality control and training

Education and/or Experience:

  •  Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering or another related technical degree  
  • Must have Computer Assisted Design (CAD) experience - Solidworks preferred

  • Kaizen and Lean Manufacturing techniques

  • Experience with PLC’s, cellular manufacturing concepts  

  • Employee training and preparation of work instructions for various tasks    

  • Product development  

  • Problem analysis and problem resolution
